This week we lost one of our oldest members. She passed on Sunday & we were making a friendship quilt for her. I finished it yesterday to present to her family today. She will be missed. Also, our president unexpectedlly lost her son over the weekend. Don’t know the details, but its devestating news just the same.
Art Quilt Study Group October 7, 2009
Some members of the Piece Quilters have formed an Art Quilt Study group. Our plans include learning to see like an artist, color theory, many different techniques. At this time we’re planning to make a collage quilt which incorporates what we’ve learned in this group. We began with only 4 people but I hope the little group will grow as time goes by. Stay tuned for more reports.
Its not always the quilts . . . October 4, 2009
That bring us together, its also the food– oh, the food. These people really can cook! BTW< we even published a cookbook! Here are some of the dishes. Judy & Elaine are working on a hand quilted piece. Then Judy tells us about her new project.
I missed the quilt show due to poor health. It wasn’t the flu, but I spent most of the day, Saturday, on the couch. I’ll get an update at the next meeting.
From the Sept. 1, 09 Meeting September 6, 2009
We discussed the upcoming quilt show set up & advertising. Flyers were handed out for everyone to post wherever they could. Peggy showed a fall quilt wall hanging she recently finished and there were numerous comments, all positive, about it. There are also a couple for photos of the project done in Sheril Drummon’s class a few weeks ago, it the dogs. Here are a few pictures from that meeting,

Over the Summer . . . August 19, 2009
Many things have happened over the summer. We have a fall show planned, October 3, 2009, Saturday, Nicholasville Christian Church basement (same as spring show) 10 am – 4 pm, corner of West maple & Second St in Nicholasville. This show won’t be quite as big as the spring show, but will be full just the same. That particular weekend is the county’s fall festival called The Jessamine Jamboree. There will be all kinds of events going on at the time, all over Nicholasville & in Wilmore too. Where’s Wilmore? Its a little town about 5 miles south west of Nicholasville which is just south of Lexington KY, Anyway, we hope to see you at the show. Admission is free.
Also, we’ve had a stained glass applique class from local quit artist, Sheril Drummond, atteneded quilt shows, & just finifshed a class on paper piecing , which confused nearly everyone there. We start back with weekly meetings, on Tuesday mornings in September & pot luck is the last Tuesday of each month.
Some of use went to the AQS show in Knoxville in late July, not as a group but individually. It was my first time there & it wasn’t quite as large & spread out as the Paducah show . I liked it just the same.
Summer’s almost gone, the kids are back in school & we are nearly beck to weekly meetings. I think most of the group misses those weekly sessions during the summer., I know I do.
That’s all for now, back to the sewing machine.
